Band Bio
Established regulars on the London jazz scene, Anthropology are an all-male jazz trio based in London and Oxford. Performing classic jazz to the highest standard, Anthropology recreate songs by jazz greats such as Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, and many others. This youthful and modern jazz collective are the perfect addition to any drinks reception, wedding breakfast, wedding ceremony, event, party, or evening dinner and can even offer a unique Christmas-inspired jazz setlist for festive occasions and events.
Like all bands in the Seventh Second family, members of Anthropology graduated with music degrees from some of London's finest universities and quickly became in-demand session players on the music scene performing at venues such as Ronnie Scotts, The Barbican, Jazz After Dark, 606 Club and The Royal Albert Hall. Each member performs regularly around the UK and Europe at weddings, parties, events, on tour, and at festivals.
Over the years, this professional live function band has earned a deserved reputation as one of the finest jazz trios around, with their attention to detail, expert musicianship, reliability, flexibility, and experienced and friendly attitude.
Anthropology offer all sorts of lineup and booking options including additional male or female vocals, trumpet, and/or saxophone for that authentic big jazz sound. You can make song (including first dance) requests, add extra live sets or early arrival or late finish timings, and also have fully manned DJ'ing in between live sets if you require it.
All prices shown are based on their core trio lineup consisting of keys, double bass, and drums with 2x45, 2x60, or 3x40 minute live sets and free background/DJ'ed music. Like all Seventh Second acts, all prices include top-spec PA, lighting, musical equipment, and PLI and PAT certificates. There’s not a single person I’ve spoken to that’s not said “OMG the band were amazing – where did you find them?”! You honestly made it and we couldn’t have hoped for a better atmosphere! Thank you! Apologies I didn’t really get to chat to you guys, but I was so happy! I’d also like to apologise for my drunken husband turning the generator off whilst you were still packing up! Requirements
The band generally will require a minimum of 3x4 metres of space to make sure they can set up safely. Please ask for rider details.
Gear
Along with their instruments (they do help), the band will provide top spec, full PA and lighting systems to cater for any event. Comprehensive PAT and PLI certification is supplied as standard.
Arrival and Set Up
The band can be flexible to suit your requirements, however, usually, set up time is roughly an hour. This time can vary depending on the complexity of the show.
Performance Duration
The band will typically play 2 x 60 or 3 x 40 minute sets, however, the band are flexible so please do ask if you have something more specific in mind. Extra sets or an early start/late finish available. Please contact us for more information.
Sound Limiter
Boo! However, we understand this is commonplace so all our acts have experience with venue sound limiters. If you’ve been instructed by your venue with anything specific, please be sure to let us know before hand.
