We’ve been in the wedding entertainment business for 15 years and counting and being based in London with most of our staff of musicians gaining their music degrees in London and living and gigging in and around London all this time means we’ve performed at thousands of weddings in our beautiful capital. From epic weddings at the Roundhouse music venue in Camden to intimate weddings in Tower Bridge (yes the actual bridge) we’ve graced pretty much every music and wedding venue.
All the photos in today’s guide are photos we took while performing for London folk who were partying hard! Londoners love to dance into the early hours and over the years the wedding bands below have time and again taken quiet dance floors and transformed them into vibrant, all singing all dancing fuelled riots. For you, what’s unique about a London wedding?
London is a one-off city. It’s a stunning and busy place with all sorts of people living in it. You get to see that at weddings.
What’s your favourite London venue to perform at?
It was tricky to load the gear in but performing in Tower Bridge was pretty cool.
Your top tip for a packed dance floor?
Pick a band you and your guests will enjoy. Then everyone’s happy and you can leave the rest to us, we’ll make sure they get dancing!
What’s been your favourite moment at a London wedding?
When the bride and groom asked us to be part of their wedding photos.
Electric Jukebox are relatively new kids on the block but they are already forming a strong reputation as all-action, dance floor masters with their fantastic blend of classic and contemporary tunes and high tempo live show. I think the venues are what make a London wedding unique. They are all so different.

We’ve always liked performing in all the old pubs in central.

Why do you guys like performing at weddings?
They are some of the most enjoyable gigs we do and we get to play all sorts of tunes at them.

For you, what do you like about the 1920s?
Where to start? The music, the theatre and fashion of it all. So stylish!
How long have you guys been performing together?
We’ve been together for about two years and mainly perform in London.
What’s your favourite song to perform?
I love performing anything from the Jungle Book because it surprises guests and everyone loves the tunes.
What’s been your favourite moment at a London wedding?
I can’t take my eyes off first dances. They are so romantic.

Why did you become a musician?
I was going to become a writer but I kind of just fell into music and never quit!

We like how the guests and venues are fancy. London weddings are always classy.
Why did you choose drums and percussion?
They chose me really. I just picked them up at school one day but im not sure why!
Your top tip for a packed dance floor?
Lead by example, the newlyweds are the most important people at a wedding so show your guests how it’s done and they will follow.
What’s been your favourite moment at a London wedding?
I enjoyed performing at a wedding in central where a guest performed their own song, written for the bride and groom as a total surprise.

Why did you become a professional singer?
Well, I wanted to become an actress but my mum said I was better at singing so I studied that instead. I love it.

I enjoyed a huge sing-along to Hey Jude as our last song of the night at a wedding at the Ritz. Everyone was singing!

For you, what’s unique about a London wedding?
I think London weddings are some of the most lavish and stylish weddings I’ve ever performed at.
Your favourite London venue to perform at?
I enjoy all the venues we play in but The Shard is a big favourite at the moment.
What’s a top tip for a great London wedding?
Oooo, just let all those inhibitions go and get dancing! It’s not often you get to dance along with a live band!
What’s been your favourite moment at a London wedding?
Performing a first dance for a couple is always such an honour.

Why do you love performing at weddings?
Everyone at a wedding is happy, it’s one of the few events like that so I just feed off that energy!

The glamour and the energy. Everyone always seems ready to dance and looks so good doing it.
Why do you enjoy living in London?
I live in Chiswick and it’s simply stunning. Peaceful and full of really great independent shops.
Your top tip for a busy dance floor all night?
Before you know it the night will be over so get on that dance floor and party! It’s so much fun to let loose and dance!
What’s been your favourite moment at a London wedding?
I performed a solo for the bride and groom which was nerve-wracking but a lot of fun.

Alternative is sometimes the only way to go and you can’t get much more alternative than Stan Darsh. With a truly unique repertoire, Stan Darsh whip weddings up into a festival-style frenzy, expertly performing their own unique takes on pop, rock, punk, indie, DnB, dance, trance and metal hits from all eras and right up to the present day. This festival hardened London wedding band know how to party so do not book these guys unless you want a heaving dance floor and big festival atmosphere.

The parking! haha. I think the venues and the kind of people you get to play for are pretty unique.

I really like the classic old hotels in London, they have all that history.

Encourage everyone to have some drinks and loosen up. No need for uptight Brits at a party!

Our first gig as a band is one of my favourite memories. It was tense but so much fun and rewarding, it rocked!

We try to be. London is always at the forefront of trends and we wanted to create a different kind of wedding band to match that.
Could you imagine doing anything else?
No, im a musician and a performer, that’s just what I do. I’ve never thought about any other job.
Your top tip for a guaranteed filled dance floor?
Pick a band that performs songs that are great to dance to. One dance hit after the other to keep everyone on that dance floor!
What’s been your favourite moment at a London wedding?
We’re quite a new act so performing for 1000 people for our first wedding was something! I’ve never seen so many people at a wedding!

We are always here and happy to help with expert advice.
All of our London wedding bands are exclusively private event bands so it’s not usually possible to see them live outside of private events. However, some bands do run public showcases and can in some cases invite guests to private shows so you can “try before you buy”. Each band also has extensive and up-to-date promotional material on their unique profile page so you have a great idea of how they would perform at your wedding or event.
We would always advise you to book your chosen London wedding band at least 12 months before your wedding although between 6-12 months is usually ok. Bear in mind that peak dates (generally Saturdays from May until September) can be booked up years in advance, especially with in-demand bands so if your favorite wedding band is free, we suggest booking as soon as you can.
London wedding band prices vary depending on the size and style of the band and the time of year you are looking at hiring them. Read our guide on the real cost of wedding bands for much more but 3-piece bands generally cost between £750-£1200, 4-piece bands, £850-£2000, 5-piece bands £1100-£2600, and 6-piece bands £1800-3000. A premium, 12-piece showband generally starts from £8000. Our live wedding bands are generally £100-£200 cheaper to hire than anywhere else because we don’t charge commission on any booking.
Because your wedding band will be with you for around at least 8 hours it is generally accepted and usually contractually stipulated that you must provide the band with some form of food and adequate soft drinks for the duration of their stay with you. The better you look after your band, the better they will perform!
People love all sorts of live wedding bands in London but some of the most hired London wedding bands are multi-genre bands (typically pop, rock, and indie), like Flair Six (above) soul and motown bands, and folk/mumford & sons-styled bands.
Our London wedding bands can arrive at a wedding at any agreed-upon time but standard arrival times are between 5pm and 7pm as most live music usually starts from around 6pm to 8pm.
Again, our London wedding bands can finish at any agreed-upon time so the party never has to stop but typical finish times in London are 11pm and 12pm with some weddings finishing at 10pm or 1/2am.
Our London wedding bands are very adept at fitting into all the weird and wonderful shapes of some London venues but as a general rule, a 3×3 metre space will be sufficient for most 3 and 4-piece wedding bands. You generally need to add an extra metre to the space required as you add extra band members but you can reference our full spacing guide here for more.
Our London wedding bands can perform outside and have done so at many outdoor London wedding ceremonies, receptions, and during other parts of wedding days. Our guide on wedding bands performing outdoors is a must-read if you want some excellent outdoor live music at your wedding.
Our London wedding bands like Southside Sparkle (above) can perform during your wedding breakfast/dinner and drinks receptions and have done so at many weddings before. They have the capacity and experience to perform during any part of your wedding day.
Our wedding bands don’t specifically need stages to perform unless they are performing outside or in a marquee where they do need a solid and waterproof floor as a minimum. However, a stage always adds something extra to any live bands live performance and is recommended!
Our live wedding bands generally need 60 to 90 minutes to set up, sound check and be ready to perform for you. This process can take longer if they are delayed by your venue or if the load-in is far away from where they need to perform. If needed and if free of delays, our bands can set up and sound check in 30 to 40 minutes. Pack down generally takes between 40 to 60 minutes but please be aware that much larger bands with stages and lighting rigs can sometimes take much longer to set up, sound check and pack down.
Our London bands can silently and discreetly set up and sound check while in the same room as your guests if needed. If your London venue only has one room for you, your guests, and your live wedding band, this option can be essential and our London bands are very experienced in this process.

Our wedding bands are always happy for you to use their PA for speeches and many have wireless microphones available so you can enjoy your speeches wherever you wish!
Most of our bands do offer a bandeoke/rockaoke booking option where you, your friends, and your family can join the band on stage and become a true rock or pop star! Our live bands are also happy for you, a friend or a family member to join them for a one-off special performance too.
Our London wedding bands perform all sorts of music from rock, pop, blues, indie, folk, motown, soul, funk, hip-hop, RnB, metal, DnB, punk, and many others. Some bands specialise in certain styles like soul, motown, and ratpack but many of our live wedding bands perform all styles to cater for weddings with all age groups and music tastes. The choice is yours!
You can always have full input in what any of our London bands perform and working alongside them, you can create a live setlist that is perfect for you and works for them so you have the ultimate live show at your wedding!

Live wedding bands typically perform 2×60 or 3×40-minute sets but each band can design set times and lengths to suit your schedule and wedding. You can also add extra live sets, and extend or shorten live sets so you have the exact amount of live music you wish.
Our live wedding bands will always supply DJ/background music when not performing so your wedding party never has to stop! They can DJ or play any and all styles of music to blend in perfectly with any part of your day.
You can have full control over the music between live sets with our bands performing playlists you approve of, playlists you provide, or playlists you create with them. Our London wedding bands can also take requests from you and your guests and make announcements. The choice is always yours but you can always leave the music in their expert hands and enjoy your wedding party.
From our fully acoustic London wedding bands to full-blown 12-piece London showbands the volume range can vary from 85db to 130db. The typical volume for a standard London wedding band is 110db and is equivalent to a large truck passing by or a baby crying. Our live wedding bands are made up of professional musicians who only perform at volume levels that are fun for you and your guests and that are acceptable to your venue.
All our London wedding bands have extensive experience with sound limiters of all shapes and sizes and know how to get the most out of them despite their restrictions. If you know your venue has a sound limiter, it’s always best to ask them for details so your live band can prepare and deliver the best live performance for you. Any London venue that has a sound limiter below 85db is not live music friendly and should be avoided if you plan to have live music. Not always. In the rare case of a band member falling ill or having a family (or other) emergency, our live wedding bands like The Usual Suspects (above) have a select group of expert musicians they trust and perform with regularly who can step in and cover for band members who can’t make a show. These are full-time, professional musicians and are like-for-like replacements. This means your wedding band doesn’t have to cancel their booking with you and can still deliver a fantastic night’s entertainment.
Our London wedding bands typically wear suits or smart shirts for a more smart/casual look but each band has various outfits they can wear to blend in with your wedding theme and many have bespoke coordinated outfits or can tailor looks to compliment your wedding perfectly.
