“Ridiculously simple, affordable and user-friendly I wasn’t sure about live music with the potential of pandemic-related reschedules (we’re on attempt number 3) and I had also left it late for the reason above. By the time I started I was on a couple of pages that said something like “Starting at £1,600…” and when the price came in it was closer to £4,000 with booking fees, transport, expenses etc. I was starting to lose hope. Then, I stumbled across Seventh Second and everything changed. Firstly, the website actually gave me a great sense of the bands I was reviewing. Most had videos of them performing. Others had the audio. I was able to quickly make a “shortlist” by clicking a button on the ones I was interested in. Rocket science, it was not. Then came crunch time, Jon reached out with the news that many of my selections were available. In addition to re-watching/re-listening the clips, I was also able to review the song lists and numerous reviews from previous clients. I had an extremely good idea of what to expect from the bands I was choosing between. Jon – a musician himself and founding member of the team – was at my side throughout the process. A phone call was instrumental (haha) at answering some of my questions as I’d never booked anything like this before. Even the quotes were in a unified manner e.g. same set time, start/finish, everything included. It makes it so much easier that I was simply choosing between the band and then price vs also having to compare mitigating factors that would have caused unnecessary confusion. I don’t intend on getting married again so won’t need them for this specific purpose but I will find a way to use Seventh Second again. Seventh Second are a shining example of what a vendor should be. Great job Jon and team.”

The best wedding bands are typically exclusively private events bands meaning watching them live can usually only happen if they can invite you to a private event or if they’re running special showcases for prospective clients to experience their live show. However, most of our best wedding bands have live gig footage on their unique profile pages amongst their other great promotional material so you get a really good idea of how they will perform live at your wedding. If you would like to try and see any of our live wedding bands please contact us and we will help as much as possible.
We would always suggest hiring your favoured wedding band 12 months in advance especially if you are looking to hire a band on a peak Saturday (between May and September). However, in some cases, you can hire some of the best wedding bands 8 to 4 months in advance if you are hiring during off-peak season or the band happens to be available. Please bear in mind that the most popular and best wedding bands often get booked years in advance so if you see one that you love and they’re popular it’s best to hire them as soon as you can.
Prices for the best wedding bands in the UK vary depending on the size and style of the band and also if booking for an off or on-peak date. Read our guide on the real cost of wedding bands for all the detail but 3-piece bands generally cost between £750-£1200, 4-piece bands, £850-£2000, 5-piece bands £1200-£2600, and 6-piece bands £1800-3000. A premium, 12-piece showband generally starts from £8000. Our best wedding bands are generally £100-£200 cheaper to hire than anywhere else because we don’t charge commission.
Because a live wedding band will usually be with you for at least 8 hours it’s always a really good idea to supply some food and soft drinks for the duration of their stay with you. This is covered in most booking contracts (including ours) but you can always check with the band as they may not need anything or they may have certain dietary requirements. We always suggest looking after your band because the better you look after them the better they will perform!
Couples love to hire all sorts of different styles of wedding band but some of the most popular styles performed by the best wedding bands are multi-genre live sets that cover all types of styles and eras for all tastes or pop, rock, funk, or Mumford & Sons style festival folk music.
Our live wedding bands can arrive at your wedding at any time you need but typical arrival times are between 5pm and 8pm. This works nicely for performance times which usually begin around 6pm to 9pm.
Again all our live bands can finish at any time you wish but typical finish times are between 11pm and 12am. If you never want the wedding party to end then our best wedding bands can perform past 12am right up to 3am or 4am. Please ask us for more information.
All wedding bands including the best wedding bands are very adept at fitting into all sorts of venues but as a general rule, a 3×3 metre space will be sufficient for most 3 and 4-piece wedding bands. As a rule, you usually need to add an extra metre to the space required as you add extra band members but have a look at our full spacing guide here for all the info you need.
All of our live wedding bands love to perform outside and have done so on many occasions at many lovely weddings. Again, our best wedding bands are more than happy to perform during your wedding breakfast or drinks reception and have done so on many occasions. All our live bands have the capacity, skill and experience to perform during any part of your special day.
Our live wedding bands do not specifically need stages to perform for you however we would always recommend that if you have access to a stage you take advantage of it as a live wedding band performing on a stage is quite special. If your live wedding band is performing outside or in a marquee, they don’t specifically need a stage but will need solid waterproof flooring and cover from the elements.
All live wedding bands generally need 60 to 90 minutes to load in, set up, and soundcheck for your wedding. If you have a tight schedule on your wedding day and there are no delays and the band can unload close to the performance area, a band can set up in 30 to 40 minutes if needed. Pack down and loading generally takes between 40 to 60 minutes but please bear in mind that with larger bands like Flair Twelve set up and pack down can take significantly longer.
All of our live bands can set up discreetly and silently if needed so they do not disturb you while you are in the same room. They can also always sound check at a later time which is more suitable and often, when venues host everything in the same room, having an experienced live wedding band like ours that can sound check and set up quietly and carefully is essential.

Most of our best wedding bands offer a fantastic bandeoke/rockaoke booking option where you, your friends, and your family can join them on stage and become a true rock or pop star! If you want to join one of our bands for a one-off special performance or if any of your guests or relatives want to perform a one-off song (for example your first dance) you are always welcome.

All our wedding bands usually perform 2×60 or 3×40-minute sets. However, our best wedding bands are also more than happy to edit their set times to match perfectly with your wedding schedule. Although the standard amount of time for live music is around two hours all of our wedding bands are more than happy to shorten or extend their live performance times for you.
All of our live bands will always supply DJ/background music when not performing so your wedding party never has to stop! Our bands are very experienced at DJ’ing at weddings and other events and can DJ at any point during your wedding day no matter how early or how late.
You can choose whatever music you wish between live sets with our bands performing playlists you approve of, playlists you provide, or playlists you create with them. All our bands are happy to take requests, make announcements and DJ authentically or leave playlists to run for a more subtle service. The choice is always yours but you can always leave the music in their expert hands and enjoy your wedding party to the max!
From the best, fully acoustic live wedding bands to massive, 12-piece mega-bands the volume range can vary from 85db to 140db. The typical volume for a standard wedding band is 110db and is equivalent to a large truck passing you by or a baby crying. Our best wedding bands are made up of professional musicians who only perform at volume levels that are enjoyable for all and that are acceptable for your venue.
All of our live bands are very experienced with sound limiters of all shapes and sizes in venues of all shapes and sizes. They have the experience and knowledge to work within the limitations of a sound limiter and make sure that you all have the absolute best night possible despite the volume restrictions. Be warned: any venue that has a sound limiter below 85db is not live music friendly and should be avoided if you want live music at your wedding. Our live wedding bands typically wear suits or more smart casual outfits. Our folk bands can also wear Mumford & Sons or folk-inspired outfits too. However, all our bands are happy to cater (where possible) to your wedding theme or ideas and it’s always a great idea to look at each band’s promotional page to see the kind of outfits they typically wear.
Since the pandemic, we’ve wanted to make sure you book with confidence when hiring any of our best wedding bands.
