Many of our wedding bands can strip down to soloists, duos, or trios offering not only their fantastic evening’s entertainment but something more fitting for your wedding ceremony, wedding reception, drinks reception, or wedding breakfast. Below I’ve answered some of the key questions we get regularly asked about ceremony and reception acts like Rae (above) but if you want to know more or have any other questions, check out our other helpful guides where we cover all these questions in much more detail, head over to our FAQ or T&Cs pages, or get in touch. We are always here and happy to help with expert advice.
All of our wedding acts are exclusively private event acts so it’s not usually possible to see them live outside of private events. However, some acts do run public showcases and can in some cases invite guests to private shows so you can “try before you buy”. Each act also has extensive and up-to-date promotional material on their unique profile page so you have a great idea of how they would perform at your wedding.
We would always advise you to book your chosen artist at least 12 months before your wedding although between 6-12 months is usually ok. Bear in mind that peak dates (generally Saturdays from May until September) can be booked up years in advance, especially with in-demand acts so if your favorite wedding reception act is free, we suggest booking as soon as you can.
Live wedding act and band prices vary depending on the size and style of the act and the time of year you are looking at hiring them. Read our guide on the real cost of wedding bands for much more but solo artists typically cost between £300-£600, duos between £500-£800, 3-piece bands between £750-£1200, 4-piece bands £850-£2000, 5-piece bands £1100-£2600, and 6-piece bands £1800-3000. Our live wedding bands and acts are generally £100-£200 cheaper to hire than anywhere else because we don’t charge commission on any booking.
Because your wedding act will be with you for around at least 8 hours it is generally accepted and usually contractually stipulated that you must provide them with some form of food and adequate soft drinks for the duration of their stay with you. The better you look after your act, the better they will perform!
People love all sorts of wedding acts but some of the most hired ceremony and reception acts are multi-genre acts (typically pop, soul and funk), like Cadence (above) soul and motown bands, and folk acts.
Our wedding ceremony and reception acts can arrive at a wedding at any agreed-upon time but standard arrival times are between 12pm and 3pm to fit in with your wedding ceremony or reception.
Again, our wedding acts can finish at any agreed-upon time depending on how long your ceremony is or if you want further music but typical finish times are 2pm – 4pm. Evening performances can push this to finish times of 11pm or 12am.
Our wedding acts are very adept at fitting into all the weird and wonderful shapes of some wedding venues but as a general rule, a 1×1 metre space is fine for a solo performer, 2×2 for a duo, and 3×3 metre space sufficient for most 3 and 4-piece wedding bands. You generally need to add an extra metre to the space required as you add extra band members but you can reference our full spacing guide here for more.
Our live wedding acts can perform outside and have done so at many outdoor wedding ceremonies, receptions, and during other parts of wedding days. Our guide on wedding bands performing outdoors is a must-read if you want some excellent outdoor live music at your wedding.
Our wedding reception and ceremony acts like Encore (above) can perform during your wedding breakfast/dinner and drinks receptions and have done so at many weddings before. They have the capacity and experience to perform during any part of your wedding day.
Our wedding acts don’t specifically need stages to perform unless they are performing outside or in a marquee where they do need a solid and waterproof floor as a minimum. However, a stage always adds something extra to any live performance and is recommended!
Our live wedding acts generally need 60 to 90 minutes to set up, sound check and be ready to perform for you. This process can take longer if they are delayed by your venue or if the load-in is far away from where they need to perform. If needed and if free of delays, our acts can set up and sound check in 30 to 40 minutes. Pack down generally takes between 40 to 60 minutes but please be aware that much larger acts with stages and lighting rigs can sometimes take much longer to set up, sound check and pack down.

Most of our acts do offer a bandeoke/rockaoke booking option where you, your friends, and your family can join them on stage and become a true rock or pop star! Our live acts are also happy for you, a friend, or a family member to join them for a one-off special performance too.
Our London wedding bands perform all sorts of music from rock, pop, blues, indie, folk, motown, soul, funk, hip-hop, RnB, metal, DnB, punk, and many others. Some acts specialise in certain styles like pop, soul, motown, and ratpack but many of our live wedding bands and acts perform all styles to cater for weddings with all age groups and music tastes. You can always have full input in what any of our acts perform and working alongside them, you can create a live setlist that is perfect for you and works for them so you have the perfect wedding soundtrack.

Live wedding acts typically perform 1×30, 1×60, 2×60, or 3×40-minute sets but each act can design set times and lengths to suit your schedule and wedding. You can also add extra live sets, and extend or shorten live sets so you have the exact amount of live music you wish.
Our live wedding acts will always supply DJ/background music when not performing so your wedding party never has to stop! They can DJ or play any and all styles of music to blend in perfectly with any part of your day.
You can have full control over the music between live sets with our wedding acts performing playlists you approve of, playlists you provide, or playlists you create with them. Our acts can also take requests from you and your guests and make announcements. The choice is always yours but you can always leave the music in their expert hands and enjoy your wedding party.
From our fully acoustic wedding acts to full-blown 12-piece showbands the volume range can vary from 80db to 130db. The typical volume for a standard wedding band is 110db and is equivalent to a large truck passing by or a baby crying. Our live wedding acts are made up of professional musicians who only perform at volume levels that are fun for you and your guests and that are acceptable to your venue.
All our wedding acts have extensive experience with sound limiters of all shapes and sizes and know how to get the most out of them despite their restrictions. If you know your venue has a sound limiter, it’s always best to ask them for details so your act can prepare and deliver the best live performance for you. Any wedding venue that has a sound limiter below 70db is not live music friendly and should be avoided if you plan to have live music. All our live acts have up-to-date PLI and PAT certificates so they can perform safely and securely in any venue in the UK.

Not always. In the rare case of a band member falling ill or having a family (or other) emergency, our live wedding acts like Pop Nights (above) have a select group of expert musicians they trust and perform with regularly who can step in and cover for band members who can’t make a show. These are full-time, professional musicians and are like-for-like replacements. This means your wedding act doesn’t have to cancel their booking with you and can still deliver a fantastic night’s entertainment.
Our live wedding acts typically wear suits or smart shirts for a more smart/casual look but each act has various outfits they can wear to blend in with your wedding theme and many have bespoke coordinated outfits or can tailor looks to compliment your wedding perfectly.
