Below I’ve answered some of the key questions we get regularly asked but if you want to know more or have any other questions, check out our other helpful guides where we cover all these questions in much more detail, head over to our FAQ or T&Cs pages, or get in touch. We are always here and happy to help with expert advice.
1. Can you watch a rock wedding band before hiring them?
All of our rock wedding bands are exclusively private event bands so it’s not usually possible to see them live outside of private events. However, some bands do run public showcases and can in some cases, invite guests to private shows so you can “try before you buy”. Each band also has extensive and up-to-date promotional material on their unique profile page so you have a great idea of how they would perform at your wedding or event.
2. How far in advance should I book a rock wedding band?
We would always advise you to book your chosen wedding band at least 12 months before your wedding although between 6-12 months is usually ok. Bear in mind that peak dates (generally Saturdays from May until September) can be booked up years in advance, especially with in-demand bands so if your favourite wedding band is free, we suggest booking as soon as you can.
3. How much do wedding bands cost?
Rock wedding band prices vary depending on the size and style of the band and the time of year you are looking to hire them. Read our guide on the real cost of wedding bands for much more but 3-piece bands generally cost between £750-£1200, 4-piece bands, £850-£2000, 5-piece bands £1100-£2600, and 6-piece bands £1800-3000. A premium, 12-piece showband generally starts from £8000. Our rock wedding bands are generally £100-£200 cheaper to hire than anywhere else because we don’t charge commission on any booking.
4. What is the booking process with a rock band for hire?
The booking process is quick and simple! Shortlist your favourite rock wedding bands, check their availability and prices, pay a small booking deposit and sign a comprehensive, secure booking contract with your chosen rock band and then sit back and plan your dream wedding with your dream wedding band!
5. Do you have to feed the band at your wedding?
Because your wedding band will be with you for around at least 8 hours, it is generally accepted and usually contractually stipulated that you must provide the band with some form of food and adequate soft drinks for the duration of their stay with you. The better you look after your band, the better they will perform!
6. What time do live wedding bands arrive?
Our wedding bands can arrive at a wedding at any agreed-upon time but standard arrival times are between 5pm and 7pm as most live music usually starts from around 6pm to 8pm.
7. What time will the band finish?
Again, our wedding bands can finish at any agreed-upon time so the party never has to stop but typical finish times are 11pm and 12pm with some weddings finishing at 10pm or 1/2am.
8. How much space does a rock wedding band need to perform?
Our rock wedding bands are very adept at fitting into all venues but as a general rule, a 3×3 metre space will be sufficient for most 3 and 4-piece wedding bands. You generally need to add an extra metre to the space required as you add extra band members but you can reference our full spacing guide here for more.
9. Can rock wedding bands perform outside?
Our rock wedding bands can perform outside and have done so at many outdoor wedding ceremonies, receptions, and during other parts of wedding days. Our guide on wedding bands performing outdoors is a must-read if you want some excellent outdoor live music at your wedding.
10. Can rock wedding bands perform during dinner or the drinks reception?
Our live wedding bands can perform during your wedding breakfast/dinner and drinks receptions and have done so at many weddings before. They have the capacity and experience to perform during any part of your wedding day.
11. Does the band need a stage?
Our wedding bands don’t specifically need stages to perform unless they are performing outside or in a marquee, where they do need a solid and waterproof floor as a minimum. However, a stage always adds something extra to any live band’s performance and is recommended!
12. How long does it take for a band to set up, sound check, and pack down?
Our wedding bands generally need 60 to 90 minutes to set up, sound check and be ready to perform for you. This process can take longer if they are delayed by your venue or if the load-in is far away from where they need to perform. If needed and if free of delays, our bands can set up and sound check in 30 to 40 minutes. Pack down generally takes between 40 to 60 minutes but please be aware that much larger bands with stages and lighting rigs can sometimes take much longer to set up, sound check and pack down.
13. Can your live rock bands set up and sound check while my guests are in the same room?
Our live rock bands can silently and discreetly set up and sound check while in the same room as your guests if needed. If your venue only has one room for you, your guests, and your live wedding band, this option can be essential and our bands are very experienced in this process.
14. What will the rock band provide at our wedding?
All our live rock wedding bands provide everything you could need for a fantastic night’s entertainment. This includes (free of charge) at any wedding, party, or event:
Top-of-the-range PA system
Top-of-the-range stage lighting
Top-of-the-range musical and backline equipment
DJ/background music and equipment
Suitable stage outfits
Transport
PLI and PAT certificates
A friendly and professional attitude!
15. Do I need to provide anything for the band?
Wedding bands don’t need too much from you for them to be able to perform to their max for you. What they do need includes:
A safe space to park their vehicles
Ample performance space with enough power supply
If performing outdoors, a waterproof, flat, solid stage area with protection from the elements
Some food and drink for the duration of their time with you
A safe spot to get ready for performing and to relax between sets
Access to toilets
16. Can we use the band’s PA for speeches?
Our wedding bands are always happy for you to use their PA for speeches and many have wireless microphones available so you can enjoy your speeches wherever you wish!
17. Can we perform with the band?
Most of our bands do offer a bandeoke/rockaoke booking option where you, your friends, and your family can join the band on stage and become a true rock star! Our live bands are also happy for you, a friend or a family member to join them for a one-off special performance too.
18. Can I choose which songs my rock wedding band plays?
You can always have full input in what any of our bands perform and working alongside them, you can create a live setlist that is perfect for you and works for them so you have the ultimate live rock show at your wedding!
19. Can a rock wedding band perform my first dance?
All of our wedding bands are more than happy to perform first dances and are happy to learn songs just for the occasion. We have a popular guide on choosing a first dance here.
20. How long do live bands usually perform for?
Live bands typically perform 2×60 or 3×40-minute sets but each band can design set times and lengths to suit your schedule and wedding. You can also add extra live sets and extend or shorten live sets so you have the exact amount of live music you wish.
21. What happens between the band’s live sets?
Our live wedding bands will always supply DJ/background music when not performing so your wedding party never has to stop! They can DJ or play any and all styles of music to blend in perfectly with any part of your day.
22. Can I choose the music the band performs between live sets?
You can have full control over the music between live sets with our bands performing playlists you approve of, playlists you provide, or playlists you create with them. Our wedding bands can also take requests from you and your guests and make announcements. The choice is always yours but you can always leave the music in their expert hands and enjoy your wedding party.
23. How loud are rock wedding bands?
From our fully acoustic live wedding bands to full-blown 12-piece rock showbands, the volume range can vary from 85db to 130db. The typical volume for a standard rock pop wedding band is 110db and is equivalent to a large truck passing by or a baby crying. Our wedding bands are made up of professional musicians who only perform at volume levels that are fun for you and your guests and that are acceptable to your venue.
24. Can rock wedding bands perform with sound limiters?
All our wedding rock bands have extensive experience with sound limiters of all shapes and sizes and know how to get the most out of them despite their restrictions. If you know your venue has a sound limiter, it’s always best to ask them for details so your live band can prepare and deliver the best live performance for you. Any venue that has a sound limiter below 85db is not live music-friendly and should be avoided if you plan to have live music. You learn more in our special guide on wedding sound limitershere.
25. Do rock wedding bands have PLI and PAT certificates?
All our rock wedding bands have up-to-date PLI and PAT certificates so they can perform safely and securely in any venue in London and the UK.
26. Do your rock wedding bands offer covid cover?
All our rock wedding bands offer comprehensive covid cover with any booking. You can find more details here.
27. Do you offer any support or security when we book a rock wedding band?
We offer an industry-leading booking contract and comprehensive covid cover with every booking which protects you and the band from any eventuality. We also have a 24-hour emergency phone line available with any booking and are available 10am-10pm via phone, email, live chat, social channels, and text 7 days a week to help in any way, obligation-free. We are dedicated live music experts and professional musicians and are here for you and your special day.
28. Will I get the band members I see in the videos?
Not always. In the rare case of a band member falling ill or having a family (or other) emergency, our live wedding bands have a select group of expert musicians they trust and perform with regularly who can step in and cover for band members who can’t make a show. These are full-time, professional musicians and are like-for-like replacements. This means your wedding band doesn’t have to cancel their booking with you and can still deliver a fantastic night’s entertainment.
29. What will the band wear?
Our wedding bands typically wear suits or smart shirts for a more smart/casual look but each band has various outfits they can wear to blend in with your wedding theme and many have bespoke coordinated outfits or can tailor looks to complement your wedding perfectly. Each band’s videos showcase some of the popular outfits they can wear.
