1. I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) – The Proclaimers
What a song to start my top 10 last dance song list off with! A song loved by everyone, 500 miles as it’s generally known is a fantastic way to end your wedding if you want a riotous dance and sing-along fest! Our act The Usual Suspects perform this song at almost every show they do because it’s oodles of fun and everyone loves it. It’s as simple as that really! Did you know that this song reached No.1 in Australia? It was The Proclaimers only No.1 hit!

2. One Day Like This – Elbow
Elbows biggest hit by some way, One Day Like This is so often overlooked by people but when they hear it, they instantly love it again. It’s an epic sing-along song that seems to go on forever so if you don’t want your wedding to end, this song has got to be on your last dance shortlist. It’s quite an emotional song too and all the members of From the Top get singing for this one at the end of a wedding. It’s one for the masses and did you know that the song was written about one of the members falling in love with his author girlfriend, Emma Jane Unsworth? You can’t pick a more perfect sentiment for a last dance song!

3. Never Forget – Take That
Never forget has featured in my top 10 lists before because it’s simply perfect for weddings, especially as a last dance. Whenever one of our acts puts this song on you hear gasps and cheers from the crowd and everyone gets together for one last dance. How else would you want to end your wedding?! You can’t go wrong with this tune and did you know that Never Forget was No.1 in 5 countries including Latvia? Who would have thought?

4. Africa – TOTO
Another song that has graced my top 10 lists is Africa by TOTO. All the musicians at Seventh Second have been in love with this song for many years but it was a pretty big surprise when it literally exploded onto the wedding scene a few years back. It’s still loved by wedding crowds everywhere and really stands out as a fantastic way to end your wedding. I have fond memories of a huge London wedding in 2019 bursting into life when this song came on at the end of the night. One for the dancers, Africa is loved and performed regularly by our alternative wedding act Stan Darsh and who knew that Africa was initially snubbed by TOTO’s record label? Thankfully for us, they saw its potential eventually!

5. Stand By Me – Ben E. King
Do you want a classic, romantic end to your wedding? Well, Stand By Me could be for you, I mean, it doesn’t get much more romantic, intimate or classic than this song! Our acoustic wedding duo Cadenceperform this song an awful lot at the end of a wedding party and it just never fails to deliver the smoochy, romantic goods. One for the romantics, did you know that Stand By Me was a massive hit twice and with two totally different generations? That’s a timeless classic for sure.

6. New York, New York – Frank Sinatra
Why not continue with the wedding music royalty and more specifically one of the biggest last dance songs out there, New York, New York! Night and Day bash out a pretty stellar version of this song with it being one of their all-time faves and with the number of beaming smiles seen at weddings year on year when its performed, it’s still a firm last dance favourite with everyone else too! You simply can’t go wrong with this classic tune. Without this tune, Frank Sinatra may have disappeared from the limelight but New York, New York brought him so much success that he was right back up there with the greats!

7. Can’t Stop The Feeling – Justin Timberlake
Let’s get back up to date with a fun-filled, happy go lucky song by Justin Timberlake. He’s never featured in my top 10 lists before but Can’t Stop The Feeling is a lovely tune that will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Perfect for that last dance with your partner or friends and family, Good Fellas adore performing this tune and it may come as a surprise to know that this song’s main inspiration was the Trolls movie. Who’d have thought it!

8. Today Was A Fairytale – Taylor Swift
So many wedding couples love a bit of Taylor Swift at their wedding but they usually choose her more upbeat pop and disco tunes. However, Today Was A Fairytale is last dance perfection, I mean, the title says it all! Hire our award-winning wedding band Party Republic for your wedding and they will perform this song with all the raw emotion it deserves. Today Was A Fairytale was only the second ever song to debut at No.1 on Canadian hot 100 and you can see why! It’s just so romantic and catchy.

9. Winter Winds – Mumford And Sons
Love your folk? Love a good old knees up, foot-stomping, festival wedding vibe? Well then, get your Mumford on! Winter Winds is a top song to end your wedding with and why not get our folk wedding band masters Paper Boats blasting it out for you? Winter Winds is a bit different when it comes to last dance songs so put it on that shortlist if that’s what you’re after. Did you know that this was Mumford & Sons second ever single, what a tune!

10. Wonderwall – Oasis
I thought it fitting to end my top 10 last dance song list with one of the most popular modern classics of a last dance, Wonderwall! Oasis aren’t for everyone but Wonderwall is the go-to last dance song if you want your whole wedding party united in a big circle enjoying one last dance and sing along. The song is based on Beatles legend George Harrisons Wonderwall Music album and kind of explains its universal appeal and if you ask any of our wedding bands (especially Playback) if they can perform this song as a last dance, they will jump at the chance. It’s fun, it’s memorable and it’s a great way to end your night.
